“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anais Nin
As introduced in my previous post which you can read here, today is the first day of my 30 day challenge.
My first illustration, below, is inspired by something I have started doing recently. I can’t do this exactly, and nothing even close! But I have now been to a few classes doing trapeze and aerial silks and ropes. A friend first asked me if I wanted to go and I had been thinking recently that I wanted to try more new things, and especially physical exercise that was also fun…. The first class was really fun, but really quite scary being up high and doing something I have never done before. The hour flew by and I realised afterwards that I had been so transfixed by it all that I hadn’t been thinking about anything else. Which is how we should all be more often, in. the. moment. And when you are doing something new, or scary, it is actually much easier to stay in the present.
Anyway, I have been going for a few weeks now, and it is gradually getting less scary and in some ways quite addictive as you want to keep getting better and trying the moves again. And the moves are so beautiful and elegant, even if you are just a beginner the tools and teaching allow you to move into shapes that look so enchanting.
I think it is really important to try and do things that scare you, try things you never thought you would. You never know what might happen, and we definitely underestimate what we are capable of. So I really hope this might inspire you to try something new and help build your confidence.
